The first pattern in this sheet music is exactly the one that João Gilberto plays on this recording. There are other 9 of them in this sheet, some of them are one-bar patterns, and some of them are two-bars pattern. Try to play them on piano or even on guitar, but try to keep that half-note pulse in the left hand/bass. That’s the most difficult part of it. Don’t forget to Count in 2, not 4! Agreed?
